Montana’s Incredible Big Sky Ski Resort

With all that Big Sky, Montana has to offer skiers, it’s astounding that so very few are aware of its existence! Known for it’s wide open slopes and small lift lines, Big Sky Ski Resort offers one of the largest lift served vertical falls in the Usa. Over fifty three hundred acres of ski and snowboarding slopes and trails await skiers, with over 33 feet of snowfall every year.

Ski Big Sky Ski Resort and discover acres of terrain on three immense mountains that provide you with enough variety and expanse that standing in lift lines is an anomaly to Big Sky visitors. Big Sky Lodging options vary from slopeside hotels and Condos to private homes. Two mountains of blissful terrain please everyone from the power wedge to the fast and fearless. The ingredients are simple: massive acreage, the most total vertical feet in the United States, and a lift network including high speed quads that makes most skiers vanish onto nearly-private runs.

This secluded, mid-mountain location provides a one of a kind ski-in/ski-out experience. Enjoy panoramic views from the private hot tub on your deck. Sure, there are other mountain resorts with lots of summer activities, but only Big Sky has Lone Mountain. Millions of acres of national forest and wilderness. During the summer, Grizzly Outfitters specializes in mountain biking, camping, hiking, and climbing. They are Big Sky’s largest full-service ski and bike shop, featuring overnight tuning services.

For the cross-country skier , Lone Mountain Ranch grooms 75+ kilometers of trails that wind their way through the woods, meadows and golf course of Big Sky . Fly fishing , hiking, whitewater rafting , backpacking, mountain biking, horseback riding and golfing are some of Big Sky’s most popular warm weather activities.

The two resorts share the same mountain – Lone Peak, which is nearly an hour from Bozeman. At one time, the resorts shared several trails and a lift.

For those who dare, the Lone Peak Tram takes the bold to the apex, with 3,600 acres, 4,350 jaw-dropping vertical feet and expert terrain below. Combined, the two trail networks offer nearly 5,300 acres of skiable terrain and the second-biggest vertical descent in the US, at 4,350′. Between them, the two resorts operate 23 lifts. Coupled with easy access to the slopes and an average annual snowfall of 400 inches, terrain parks and halfpipes, you can see why Big Sky has become one of the top ski resorts in the country and rivals Winter Park ski vacations for the perfect getaway. There is something here for everyone.  Big Sky is perfect for everyone from beginners to experts.

a documentary that takes place along 1800 miles of the Continental Divide Mountain Bike Route. Filmed over a period of one month in the summer of 2008. With nothing more than a bike, a trailer, some cameras, and a little food, I abandoned Montana and headed for Colorado.Zero training and very little experience makes for a funny film. The views are breathtaking but so are the hills I find myself pu…
